The Battle Grounds 2 or The Battlegrounds 2 is a free first person shooter computer game based on The Orange Box Multiplayer Mod platform. It is the sequel for The Battle Grounds which is a mod for Half Life.[1]

Battle Grounds 2 allows the player to participate as a soldier fighting for American independence or the British Crown during The American Revolutionary War.[2] The player is offered a variety of classes and weapons from which to choose. Classes are composed of: British infantry, British officers, Native American tribes, Hessian Jaegers, American minutemen, Continental soldiers and officers, and American frontiersmen.[3] A variety of weapons may be chosen, ranging from muskets and pistols to swords and bayonets.[4]

The game has several game modes of play, including capture the flag, territorial control, and last man standing.[5]

On 7th of October, the BG team released the newest version; Battlegrounds 2 v2.1. This version included new and reworked maps, as well as a changed melee system.

On the 11th of November, 2011 the BG team released a minor patch, which fixed a melee bug for bayonet weapons and increased the firing delay by 9 fold.

Recently the BG2 community has been taken back by a withdraw of players. Currently it consists of five semi active communities. The game is then also known to those who hate it by the name of Bad Game Two, although this oppinion is not shared by many of those who do play the game. The game now seems as if the dev team is going to try to update the game to get more players into the community. Many bugs or ideas have been offered to add or remove, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
